PRE-CONDITIONED AIR DEBUTS AT SEA-TAC AIRPORT

ARTICLE

SEATTLE AIRPORT

As we know that Seattle is racking number seven in U.S. cities for the world trade. It is because good for the port, good for the city and good for the regional economy.  United's Flight 875 bound for Tokyo-Narita uses pre-conditioned air to cool the interior before take-off. A new project at the Sea-Tac Airport avoid from using jet fuel to heat and cool aircraft at the gate. Now, the planes turn off their auxiliary units and plug into the airport’s air conditioning or  from the heating system. The benefits can get is airlines are expected to save more than $15 million in annual fuel costs and the airport will be reduce the greenhouse gas emissions by 40,000 metric tons. So the equivalent of taking 8,000 cars off the road.

The recently by implemented Pre-Conditioned Air (PC Air) service for heats or for cools the aircraft during the boarding and during the deplaning. The port was been built a centralized plant to delivered pre-conditioned air through 15 miles of pipes to each of the airport’s 73 jet gates. This the system will allows aircraft to shut down their auxiliary power units, which emit CO2 gases and other emissions, and they will add to airline fuel costs.

In the one year, airlines operating at Sea-Tac will be save an estimated  the five million gallons of the fuel. PC Air provide for the both environmental and financial benefits for keeping with the Port’s Century Agenda goal to reduce the airport’s carbon footprint and increase energy that need through conservation and renewable sources.

Here you can see the yellow tubing that runs from the terminal to the aircraft. It's extremely important for the airport authority to repair them in a timely manor when they break. Sea-Tac is able to use one centralized system. This is will allow the airport to take the advantage of the electricity can be more saving by lowering peak usage. This is show how rates are charged, and down the road the system can power up during low rate periods.

This project is a huge benefit to the airlines as we can expected to pay off in less than three years and Sea-Tac applied for and received grants to cover nearly half of the project's cost. Additionally, by removing the portable diesel units on the ramp can reduce greenhouse gases and noise. So even less for the airlines to pay
the pre-conditioned air debuts at Sea-Tac airport to reduce air emissions and save millions in fuel costs.

This project can reduce gas CO2 from planes. This long investment also will reduce airlines in terms of money. It also can reduce carbon footprint. Another advantage is reduce air pollution and reduce noise pollution.this a good project because can generate 100,000 new jobs. In this globalization was hard to us to find work. It can increase international trade and tourism. This project can protecting the environment with innovative sustainability initiatives.

CURRENT ISSUE IN AIR TRANSPORTATION

ARTICLES ABOUT IN-FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT AND CONNECTIVITY

Demand in-flight entertainment and connectivity soars to gain an edge over competition

OUR COMMENT FROM THE ARTICLES

There are three comment that we can give. Firstly is about the unexpected in increasing of the demands on the global in flight entertainment and the connectivity. On our observation we can see that younger community are now more interested on using the air transportation. Because of this, it lend a momentum for airlines to try and to make the differentiated and gain competitive advantage. So, because of this, the improvement at the middle class also can have a better flight. The customer can enjoy this improvement and this can increase the sale. When sale was increase the profit also can increase. Company will get the many benefit with this in flight entertainment.

As being send by Frost and Sullivan Aerospace and Defence Consultant Lida Mantzavinou

"In-flight entertainment and connectivity will be key for airlines to achieve differentiation and boost brand loyalty"
Also an a new analysis from Frost and Sullivan Aerospace, in-flight Entertainment Market Assessment. This is analysis was been find that the market of in-flight entertainment was get $2.08 billion in 2012 and estimated that this in-flight entertainment will increase to $5.27 billion in 2020. This is analysis was good to company. We can know what customer want in their life. They will always use our service. So it mean that we only need use more many when first to develop this in flight entertainment in flight. Customer can release tension. For example that we can give here, when the customer from Australia want to see their business partner at Japan because there are emergency case happen in their company, then we they take their flight and in flight there a entertainment so they can release their tension before arrive at Japan. They can solve their problem with relaxing.

Secondly, to give this commitment some of the airlines can't give 100% support because of budget constraints. But the good news is the growth of this airlines is steady on slow motion. There are also conflict of interest among stakeholders that give a challenge on this project and other conflict like a supplier because of the technological advancement. Besides that, Hollywood studios also don't give a permission for the streaming early window.

Third, it is about the budget. There are several increase ancillary revenue such as cost on fuel and revenues. But, there are also decrease air craft weight this improvement can be done. The hardware for safety also will be improve to give a 100% satisfaction for the customer. First to do this in flight entertainment was incurred the higher budget but when after we did it we can see the improvement for our profit. So we can cover up what we have spend before made this in flight entertainment.

INNOVATION IN RAIL TRANSPORTATION

What is Innovation?
Innovation basically refers to renewing, creating or changing more effective processes, products or ways of doing things. In logistics, innovation is the addition something to the existing items into new products. For example, chocolate biscuits we innovate to become peanut chocolate biscuits. We just only add peanut in the biscuits.

Innovation Process
We have six innovation processes.

a) Set innovation objective.
    > To make the new product and want to do some of the improvement the existing of the product.
    > It also can make the reduction of the labor cost.
    > It can improved flexibility for the manufacturing.
    > It also have the potential in the technological for protect the environment.
    > We can easy to compete with other country.
    > It also can be a consistent performance.

b) Source ideas.
    > Get an idea of internet resources and other sources.
    > Create new ideas for products.

c) Identify highest potential ideas.
    > Collect all the ideas for new products.
    > Select good idea.

d) Evaluate and select highest potential ideas.
    > How to evaluate ideas?
       # Organizational innovation is not just about generating creative ideas. Most of the ideas need to be identify to choose which one can be a successful innovation. There for it's need to be evaluate to reduce a process of rejecting or failure in deciding on which one that have potential and which one that are less favour of potential.

    > There are many solution that can help in choosing the best and the innovation that are really
will work.
       # Identify the ideas that are most likely to succeed as innovation.
       # Ensure that the ideas are reviewed by people with the appropriate expertise necessary (Understand and what might go wrong).
       # Need to make sure the budget are around the limitation.
       # Improve the idea by identifying potential implementation problems and preparing suitable actions to overcome those problems.

   > The Method
       # Pass-Fail evaluation. - This criterion might be related to budget, time-frames, fit with culture or viability.
       # Evaluation matrix. - Experts compare an idea with a set of criteria.
       # SWOT analysis. - Scoring system in which reviewers give 0 to 5 point each fir strength and opportunities and takes away 0 to 5 point each for weaknesses and threats.
       # Idea development.  - Once an idea passes these initial hurdles, it may be ready for implementation or it may require more detail testing.
       # Criticism versus improvement. - Creative ideas tend to be the riskiest.
       # Evaluation teams. - Performed by a team of people with relevant expertise
       # Evaluator agendas and prejudices. - A particular benefit to having teams review ideas is that while individual evaluators are prejudiced, a varied team is likely to cancel such prejudices out.

e) Execute on ideas.
     > The innovation become not successful because the company was unfamiliar market and channels.
     > It also can develop the different of the manufacturing for the company to increase more product.
     > It also can affect the marketing process it will be the efficient and effective of the execution.
     > They also must know how to manage the unknown or known risk.
     > To develop news ideas actually not confirm whether the new ideas was balance with the local resource.
     > Effect the company not successful because company not have the enough cost to generate the new ideas.
     > Innovation also is the try and error to get the better result.

f) Measure results.
     > When finished all the steps, make smart decisions for new products.

Example:
We give you example " railroad "
During the colonial period construction purposes railway was to carry lead ore from the mining area and the port.

Some of states that are have rail systems are :
> GEMAS,NEGERI SEMBILAN - a railway intersection of the West Coast and the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
> TUMPAT - be a train terminal East Coast of Malaysia.
> SABAH - a railway track connecting Tanjung Aru to Tenom and just concentrated on the West Coast  of Sabah.
> There is no rail transportation in Terengganu and Sarawak.

Benefits of Rail Transport
> can transporting goods and carries passengers.
> can connect people in the interior to urban areas.
> can develop the interior economy.

Malaysia's Transport Improvement
Integrated rail service consists of commuter light rapid transit as STAR-LRT, PUTRA-LRT, KL-MONOREL and ERL(Express Rail Line). This service was introduced to reduce traffic congestion, shorten travel time, air pollution can be reduced. Now, electrified double tracking railway was lengthened to Rawang and Ipoh.

Innovation in Rail Transportation
The smarter rail in transportation has been build in our country. For the example it want to do a double rail. It will make the easier to move the goods from the one place and to another places. It also can increase speed of rail.
